CLA Named 2024's Top Accounting Firm For the Construction Industry

For the fifth time, top 10 accounting firm CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) has been ranked as the No. 1 accounting firm catering to businesses in the construction industry by the trade magazine Construction Executive.

“CLA has worked hard to know and help our clients in the construction industry. Reaching more than 55,000 commercial, industrial, and institutional contractors and construction-related business owners, Construction Executive magazine’s annual list ranks the top 50 accounting firms with a dedicated construction practice that serve the industry.

The ranking is based on a survey of 700 U.S. construction accounting firms in which the following data is collected:

2023 revenues from the firm’s construction practice.
Number of CPAs in the firm’s construction practice.
Percentage of the firm’s total revenues derived from its construction practice.
Number of states in which the firm is licensed to practice.
Year in which the construction practice was established.
Number of architecture, engineering, and construction clients served during fiscal year 2023.

The ranking is then determined by an algorithm that weighted the six factors in descending order of importance.

Of the top 50 accounting firms, CLA had the most construction clients in 2023 (12,656), most employees who have the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional credential (41), and the most construction practice partners (101).

Coming in second was Forvis (now Forvis Mazars), followed by Baker Tilly, Crowe, and Marcum to round out the top five.
